The following incidents were reported during the past week to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

‘Catch Me If You …’ Scam Strikes in Ashburn

An Ashburn resident reported to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office that after seeing an advertisement in a local paper for RAJ Travel & Tours Inc. he purchased tickets to India, according to an LCSO report.

The suspect instructed the victim to deposit $5,600 into a Bank of America account for the tickets. On July 11, the suspect was unable to access data and flight information. The victim then learned from the airline that the tickets had been cancelled and the money allegedly refunded to the suspect, according to the report. The ad can no longer be found and the victim has been unable to reach the company, according to the report.

Borrowing Names and Taking Money An Ashburn resident reported to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office that someone attempted to use his identity to obtain a $95,000 loan at some point between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m.

Reported Carjacking Results in Domestic Assault, DUI Loudoun County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call for a carjacking on the 43000 block of Waterpointe Terrace around 1 a.m. July 18, but ended up filing charges for domestic assault and driving under the influence. During the initial carjacking call, the woman reported two men took her vehicle, according to an LCSO report. After stopping the vehicle, deputies filed charges against the driver for a DUI and determined the incident was domenstic in nature..

Armed Robbery at DTC Reported Someone reported being robbed at gunpoint at Dulles Town Center in front of Dick’s Sporting Goods around 7 p.m. July 18, according to a Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office report. The suspect displayed a gun while in the back seat of a vehicle and took $900 in cash, according to the report. The suspect is described as a skinny black male who stands about six-foot-three.
