Hit-and-Run Vehicle May Be Cobalt or G5

The Sheriff's Office seeks any information on incident; the car may have passenger-side damage.

UPDATE 8 p.m. May 27: Electronic signs have been posted around the Ashburn Village community as investigators continue to seek information about the driver of a vehicle responsible for a May 12 hit-and-run accident on Gloucester Parkway near Ashburn Ponds. The car may be a dark-color Chevy Cobalt or Pontiac G5.

UPDATE 8 A.M. May 13: Investigators indicate the car may be a Chevy Cobalt or some similar model. The suspect car is believed to have a rear spoiler and alloy rims.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is searching for the driver of a vehicle that left the scene after reportedly striking a 55-year-old woman who was attempting to cross Gloucester Parkway near Ashby Ponds Boulevard.

Investigators believe the driver was a male. The accident occurred around 7:20 p.m. Thursday and shut down westbound lanes on Gloucester. Investigators also believe the suspect car–a dark-color, four-door–likely sustained damage to the front-end passenger side and the undercarriage.

The victim was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital with serious injuries, according to a report from the Sheriff's Office.

Anyone with any information regarding the whereabouts of the driver or vehicle is asked to contact the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office immediately at 703-777-1021. Callers wishing to remain anonymous may call Loudoun Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919. If the information leads to an arrest and indictment, the caller could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.
