Death of Inmate at Loudoun Jail Prompts Investigation

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office today announced that it has launched an investigation, along with the Virginia Medical Examiner, into the death of an inmate at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center in Leesburg.

Correctional officers saw the Scott A. Landrum, 45, of Sterling, in his holding cell experiencing some type of medical problem, according to an LCSO press release. In the release, the deputies are said to have seen the inmate suffering “symptoms from an unknown medical” condition. The symptoms were not described.

Medical staff at the jail responded and Landrum was taken to Inova Loudoun Hospital’s Cornwall campus where he died, according to the release.

Landrum had been taken into custody Feb. 2 after violating a protective order filed the previous day and booked into the jail shortly after 1:30 p.m. Feb. 2.

The cause and manner death remain investigation by the Office of the Virginia Medical Examiner and the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
