Loudoun authorities are reporting that the Waxpool Road bridge span over Route 28 has been shut down because of downed power lines. A dump truck is believed to have knocked the lines down.
Waxpool is now closed from Atlantic Avenue (east of Route 28) to Pacific Avenue (west of Route 28). Drivers should expect delays. It's uncertain when the road will reopen.
Supervisor Eugene Delgaudio (R-Sterling) sent out an email saying that a truck crashed and overturned, causing the the road closure.
Power outages also were reported in the area, including at AOL, Raytheon and Wegmans. Dominion Virginia Power confirmed that outages occurred, and verified that electricity has been restored in the area.
