Emergency Workers Pull Man to Safety after Car Sinks

Accident near Middleburg results in vehicle rolling into, becoming submerged in a pond.

Fire and rescue workers pulled a man from a large pond near Atoka Chase Lane and St. Louis Road after his carter sank in the water there.

Units from Middleburg, Aldie, Philomont and Leesburg were dispatched to the scene at about 8:10 a.m. Oct. 26 following reports of a sinking vehicle. Upon arrival, fire-rescue personnel found a partially submerged vehicle and an adult male floating in the pond.

Middleburg fire and rescue workers pulled the driver to safety with a rope and transported him via ambulance to Inova Loudoun Hospital’s Cornwall campus for treatment of moderate hyperthermia and observation.

A Leesburg water rescue team checked the water for additional passengers as a precautionary measure. No one else was found and no other injuries were reported.
