Fire Causes $45,000 in Damage to Sterling Business

The incident occurred Wednesday morning as snow fell across the region.

A fire broke out Wednesday morning at a commercial building along the 43000 block of Beaver Meadow Road in Sterling and caused an estimated $45,000 in damage, according to Loudoun Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management.

The call for the fire came in around 10 a.m., and units from South Riding, Arcola, Moorefield, Dulles Airport, Sterling Park and Ashburn reported to the scene where fire could be seeing coming from a single-story unoccupied structure.

Live power lines, structural instability and the potential for hazardous materials inside the building complicated the firefighters’ work, forcing units at the scene to work aggressively from a safe, defensive positions.

After the structure collapse and power lines were secured, crews moved to put out the fire.

The Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the blaze, and estimated damages at $45,000. No one was injured, according to Loudoun fire and rescue.
