Judge Orders 6 Years for Ashburn Burglar
A man who pleaded guilty to burglarizing a Belmont home gets 10 years, 4 suspended; now must served previously suspended sentence as well.
A Loudoun County Circuit Court judge this week sentenced Nicholas Golden, 27, to 10 years in prison, with four suspended, for charges stemming from a January 2012 burglary in Ashburn. Golden pleaded guilty to felony breaking and entering in August 2012.
A deputy stopped golden Jan. 9, 2012, after the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a suspicious man in the Belmont area of Ashburn walking on the golf course and between houses. Upon learning Golden was a convicted felon on probation, the deputy searched Golden’s bag where he found a Nook e-reader and about $10,000 in jewelry. Further investigation revealed the items were taken from a home nearby.
In addition to the new sentence, Judge Burke F. McCahill ordered Golden to serve a previously suspended 2-year, 5-month sentence for drug distribution charges.
