Juvenile Charged After Attempted Alcohol Theft

The incident took place at Parkhurst Plaza, 16-year-old found at Ashburn Farm residence.

When a young man attempted to take alcohol from the at Parkhurst Plaza in Ashburn around 6:38 p.m. Sept. 20, an employee confronted him. The suspect, later identified as a 16-year-old Ashburn resident, fled and dropped at least some of the alcohol.

Sheriff’s deputies tracked the suspect down at a residence on Vineland Square in the Ashburn Farm community and charged him with underage possession of alcohol, larceny and obstruction of justice. He was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.

At least one resident in the area said her dog started barking after deputies pointed flashlights into her home during the search.

A 17-year-old from Ashburn was also charged with underage possession of alcohol and obstruction of justice.
