Larceny Spree Targets Vehicles in Loudoun Valley Estates

The Sheriff's Office encourages residents to lock car doors and remove expensive items.

After a series of reports of items taken from cars, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office reminds residents to lock their vehicle doors and take all values out.  An open garage also was hit.

Monday and Tuesday evenings, April 18-19, at least one person entered five vehicles without permission in the Loudoun Valley Estates community. Four cases resulted in damaged windows.

Items taken include credit cards, cash and GPS units. The thefts occurred in the 43500 block of Lucketts Bridge Circle, the 22600 block of Leithtown Mill Court, the 43400 block of Wheatlands Chase Court, the 22700 block of Oatlands Grove Place and the 22600 block of Taylorstown Hunt Court.

Someone entered an open garage on Oatlands Grove Place and removed two bicycles, which were later found abandoned on Howardsville Woods Court.

“Theft from a vehicle is often a crime of opportunity,” Sheriff Steve Simpson said in a press release. “You will greatly reduce your chances of becoming a victim by removing or concealing high-dollar items and locking your vehicle.”
