LCSO Cold Case Unit Seeks ID of Body Found Near Purcellville in 1988

The inquiry is the latest examination of unsolved crimes in Loudoun County.

On a chilly day in March 1988, a Loudoun resident came across a body with a gunshot wound wrapped in a blanket along Sunny Ridge Road (Rout 761) near Purcellville, VA, and authorities have been trying to identify him ever since.

The victim was described as a white or Hispanic male in his 50s with possible reddish brown hair. He stood 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 and had a stocky build. His full upper denture was found next to his body and he wore Sears-brand black polyester pants (42W, 29H) with red socks.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Unit is seeking information from anyone who may know the identity of the person or who may have information about the circumstances that resulted in the man’s death. Anyone with such information should contact Detective S. Schochet at 703-777-0475.
