LCSO Makes Arrest in ‘68’ Vandalism Cases

Deputies charge 18-year-old Sterling man and believe he acted alone.

A teenager from Sterling was charged June 9 in a vandalism case in which he allegedly spray-painted the number ‘68’ on numerous vehicles in Ashburn, Leesburg and Sterling.

Deputies from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office charged Christopher W. Bolt, 18, in the case. More than 50 vehicles were painted with that number or some variation of it between April 30 and June 7, according to an LCSO press release.

No significant meaning to the number ‘68’ was found during the investigation, and it appears the suspect acted alone, accorrding to the release. The incidents are not believed to be gang-related.

Deputies charged Bolt with one count of felony destruction of property in connection with the June 6 vandalism of a vehicle on East Staunton Avenue. The investigation continues and further charges are expected.
