Leesburg Pedestrian Killed on Rt. 7 in Ashburn

Authorities are investigating how the incident, deemed an 'accidental death,' occurred.

A 19-year-old Leesburg man lost his life on Rt. 7 in Ashburn in the early morning hours Sunday during an incident in which three vehicles struck the victim, according to a report from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the area of Rt. 7 near Janelia Farm Boulevard shortly after 12:30 a.m. Feb. 20 and found Anil Pawar dead at the scene. Initial reports indicate Pawar was in the right westbound lane of Rt. 7 at Janelia when a 1995 Honda Civic driven by an Alexandria man stuck him.

A 2005 Mercedes driven by a McLean man struck Pawar next, and then an Ashburn man driving an Acura hit him again.

The accident shut down the westbound lanes for several hours as authorities investigated.

Alcohol was not a factor for any of the drivers. It is unknown at this time whether alcohol was a factor for the victim.  The accident remains under investigation.
