Loudoun Burglary Spree Targets Gold Jewelry

The Loudoun Sheriff's warns residents to be aware, take precautions and report suspicious activity.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating a series of burglaries in which it appears the criminals are targeting homes with gold jewelry.

Investigators have identified seven burglaries since December that could be connected. In most of those cases, the perpetrator entered homes through rear doors or windows while the residents were away:

  • The first incident occurred Dec. 1 on Lecroy Circle in the Lansdowne area. The residents were away and cash was taken. A resident of the 43800 block of Riverpoint Drive reported a similar burglary was reported that same day in which a laptop, jewelry and a camera were taken.
  • On Dec. 7, someone reportedly entered home on the 20600 block of Rainsboro Drive in Ashburn and took cash and jewelry. Also that day, a briefcase was taken from a home on Queensbridge Drive in Brambleton.
  • On Feb. 9, someone reportedly entered a home on the 42000 block of Porch Light Drive in Aldie and took jewelry. A resident of Camerons Point Court in Dulles reported someone had entered the home, but that nothing was missing.
  • Most recently, a burglary was reported Feb. 15 at a home along Freeport Place in Dulles. Jewelry again was targeted.

Deputies are patrolling these areas and residents. The LCSO reminds residents to report any suspicious behavior, vehicles or persons by calling the 24-hour, non-emergency line at 703-777-1021. Residents are reminded to call 911 in an emergency.
