Photos Released From Target MP3 Theft at Potomac Run

Man Brandishing Weapon Takes MP3s from Target

UPDATE 9:45 a.m. May 27: Photos released.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office reported that a man with a knife grabbed several MP3 digital music players from the electronics section of the Target store at Potomac Run Plaza on the evening of May 22.

Police said the man entered the store and went to the electronics section, where he asked to see an MP3 player. After the employee opened the case, the man reached for several MP3 players, displaying what was described as a knife.

The man threatened the employee before fleeing the store with several MP3 players, according to the Sheriff's Office repor. The man was described as white in his mid- to late-20s, about 5-feet-10-inches to 6-feet tall with a medium build. He wore a Nike hoodie with the hood up during the incident.

Other incidents during the past week:

  • Destruction of Property: Four vehicles were reported scratched on the 100 block of Dove Tree Court between 6 p.m. May 12 and 7 a.m. May 13.
  • Larceny: Two GPS units were reported taken from vehicles at a residence on the 120 block of Sulgrave Court between 9 p.m. May 17 and 7 a.m. May 18. Both vehicles were reported unlocked.
  • Larceny: A GPS was reported taken from a vehicle on the 210 block of Felsted Court between 6 p.m. May 17 and 8 a.m. May 18.
  • Larceny: A GPS was reported taken from a vehicle on the 150 block of Sulgave Court between 9 p.m. May 17 and 8 a.m. May 18.
  • Larceny: A wallet was reported taken from a vehicle on the 1040 block of South Ironwood Road between 8 p.m. May 17 and 6:30 a.m. May 18.
  • Larceny: A camera, jewelry and a credit card were reported taken from an unlocked vehicle on the 200 block of Chelmsford Court between 5 p.m. May 15 and 11 a.m. May 18.
  • Disturbance: A resident reported hearing a knock at the door on the 46200 block of Trillum Square at 10:26 p.m. May 19. They also reported that it appeared as if the subject attempted to open the door.
  • Destruction of Property: The driver’s side window of a vehicle was reported damaged in the area of Blossom Drive and Waterloo Station at 3:30 a.m. May 20.
  • Destruction of Property: The rear window of a vehicle was reported damaged on the 21100 block of Midday Lane between 6 p.m. May 19 and 9:30 a.m. May 20.
  • Larceny: A backpack was reported taken from a vehicle on the 20600 block of Marsh Court between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. May 19.
  • Destruction of Property: The front of one vehicle and the rear windshield of a second vehicle were reported damaged on the 1800 block of Lisa Gaye Drive between 9 p.m. May 20 and 9 a.m. May 21.
  • Auto Theft: A 32’ Vintage Intimidator trailer was reported taken from a parking lot on the 500 block of Shaw Road between 12:30 p.m. May 19 and 7:30 a.m. May 20. The trailer contained a golf cart, a junior dragster racecar and tools.
  • Destruction of Property: ‘68’ was spray painted on a vehicle on the 900 block of North York Road between 6 p.m. May 21 and 9 a.m. May 22.
  • Destruction of Property: The rear and driver’s side window of a vehicle was reported damaged on the 20 block of Bedford Drive at 1 a.m. May 22.
  • Destruction of Property: ‘68’ was spray painted on a vehicle on the 600 block of West Nettle Tree Road between 8 p.m. May 21 and 6 a.m. May 22.
  • Destruction of Property: A residence was egged on the 44000 block of Pandora Court at 11 a.m. on May 22. A window screen was also damaged.
  • Destruction of Property: ‘68’ was spray painted on a vehicle on the 900 block of North Amelia Street between 9 p.m. May 21 and noon May 22.
  • Destruction of Property: ‘68’ was spray painted on a vehicle on the 800 block of South Hoga Street between 9:15 p.m. May 21 and 9 a.m. May 22.
  • Tampering with a Vehicle: Two tires were reported damaged on a vehicle on the 1000 block of South Ironwood Road between 9 p.m. May 21 and 9 am. May 22.
  • Destruction of Property: Profanities and what appeared to be a Swastika were spray painted on a vehicle on the 21800 block of Elkins Terrace between 10 p.m. May 22 and 8:15 a.m. May 23. The owner was able to remove the paint.
  • Tampering With A Vehicle: A company work truck was reported tampered with on the 45800 block of Woodland Road between noon May 22 and 8 a.m. May 23.
  • Larceny: A grapple bucket and pallet forks were reported taken from a construction site on the 0 block of Acacia Lane between 5 p.m. May 20 and 10 a.m. May 23.
  • Malicious Wounding: Personnel from Reston Hospital notified the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office that a victim of a malicious wounding arrived at their emergency room at 7 p.m. May 23. The victim reported that he was sitting in his vehicle on the 790 block of South Sugarland Run Road when he observed four male juveniles exit a navy blue Subaru. He reported that he exited his vehicle and one of the males assaulted him. A second male then brandished a knife. The victim received lacerations to his hand from the ensuing assault. The victim declined to cooperate further regarding the possible identity of the suspects. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is handling the case.
