Meet the LCSO’s New Explosives Detection Dog

Buddy, a yellow Labrador Retreiver, came from the Puppies Behind Bars program.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office this past week welcomed its newest member: a 2-year-old Labrador Retriever named Buddy, who, along with partner Deputy Dave Orr, graduated from the CIA Explosive Detection Canine School Aug. 11.

The duo completed 10-weeks of intense training at the school, preparing Buddy to work alongside Deputy Orr, a 6-year-veteran of the agency, in the Field Operations Division.

Buddy was part of the Puppies Behind Bars program, which trains prison inmates to raise service dogs for wounded war veterans and explosive canines for law enforcement.
