One Dies, Two Injured in Dulles Greenway Accident

Virginia State Police: a westbound vehicle crossed the median and struck a bus heading east.

Eastbound traffic on the Dulles Greenway was down to one lane following an accident Friday afternoon. The Virginia State Police are conducting an investigation and were still directing traffic after 4 p.m.

The VSP responded to calls around 3:20 p.m. Friday of a two-vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes of the Greenway at Mile Marker 5. A passenger vehicle traveling westbound left the roadway, crossed the median and struck a commercial tour bus traveling in the eastbound lanes, according to a report from the VSP. The driver of the vehicle that crossed the median died at the scene, and two passengers in vehicle were taken to a hospital for treatment, according to the report.

None of the 52 occupants of the bus was reported injured. Arrangements were being made for the bus passengers to be transported by another bus. The State Police Accident Reconstruction Team was on scene.
