Victim was airlifted to Inova Fairfax, but succumbed to injuries, according to Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

A pedestrian died Thursday night after he was struck by an SUV at an Ashburn intersection, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Hitenda Laxman Dhingani, 47, of Ashburn, was initially taken to Lansdowne Campus of Inova Loudoun Hospital, but he was later airlifted to Inova Fairfax, where he died, according to an LCSO release.

At 9:08 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to the area of Gloucester Parkway and Forest Farm Lane regarding a pedestrian struck.

"The driver of the vehicle, a 61-year-old Leesburg woman, was operating her 2008 Lexus SUV westbound when she came in contact with the pedestrian in the right lane," according to the LCSO.

Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the incident. The case remains under investigation.
