Police: Assault Charge for Teacher's Aide

12-year-old student allegedly assaulted, according to Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

A Sterling Middle School teacher’s aide has been charged with assault and battery of a student, accroding to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Leopoldo A. Cabrales, 65, of South Riding, was charged Friday with misdemeanor assault and battery. 

Cabrales is accused of assaulting a 12-year-old student on March 27 while in class at Sterling Middle School. The student received minor injuries, according to a Sheriff's Office release.

The case was initially handled by Loudoun County Child Protective Services before the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division was notified.

Cabrales was released by a Loudoun County Magistrate on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
