Resident Struggles with Burglar During Break-In at Regal Wood Drive

An Ashburn resident reportedly endured a brief struggle with a burglar Tuesday evening at his home on Regal Wood Drive.

Deputies responded Tuesday to a report of a suspicious person who entered a residence at the 42500 block of Regal Wood Drive in Ashburn. 

A resident of the home ordered the man out of his house and a brief struggle ensued after the suspect did not comply, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office reports.

The incident occurred Tuesday, July 22 at 9:41 p.m.

The suspect, Richard F. Whatley, 25, of Ashburn, was charged with burglary and destruction of property.
