Several Car Thefts Reported in Sterling

Sexual assault, indecent exposure also reported by the Eastern Loudoun Sheriff's Station

 

At 7:15 a.m. July 12, Loudoun County Sheriff's deputies en route to the scene of a reported stolen vehicle on Richland Circle spotted the car heading westbound on Algonkian Parkway. The vehicle had been left running when it was taken. When officer attempted to stop the car, the suspect sped off.

At some point, the suspect jumped out of the car, which continued to roll, striking a parked vehicle. The suspect, described as a 17-year-old Sterling male, fled into the woods where he was taken into custody and held on detention orders for grand larceny of an auto, felony eluding and destruction of property.

Two other auto thefts were reported by the Eastern Loudoun Station:

  • The owner of a 2002 Honda Accord observed damage to their vehicle on the 46900 block of Shady Point Square between 11:45 p.m. July 20 and 2 p.m. July 21. The owner had previously reported keys from the vehicle being stolen. The keys were reported missing on July 7, 2011.
  • A red 2008 Toyota Camry was reported taken from the 21700 block of Canfield Terrace between 1:30 a.m. July 24 and 1:30 a.m. July 25.

  • Indecent Exposure: Muhammad Naveed, 46, was charged with indecent exposure after he exposed himself to a store employee on the 21100 block of the Dulles Town Center at 8:45 p.m. July 18. Naveed was located inside the mall and charged. He was being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
  • Sexual Assault: A 23-year-old Sterling, VA woman was walking on the 200 block of East Holly Avenue at 10:30 p.m. July 20 when an unknown black male grabbed her from behind. The suspect sexually assaulted the victim and then fled on foot. The suspect is described as having a thin build and short brown hair, and was wearing a polo shirt and blue jeans at the time of the incident. The victim was uninjured from the assault and did not require medical treatment. The assault is under investigation by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.
  • Destruction of Property: A garage window was reported damaged in an apparent attempt to gain entry on the 21280 block of Mirror Ridge Place at 6 p.m. July 21. No entry was made and nothing was reported missing.
  • Drunk in Public: Deputies responded to a home where an unknown male entered a residence on the 21800 block of Baldwin Square at 10:59 p.m. July 21. When the owner approached the door, the subject stepped out onto the front porch. Luis M. Mendoza-Angeles, 27, of Sterling, was charged with unlawful entry and drunk in public.
  • Burglary: Clothing, a large amount of change and sunglasses were reported taken from the 1200 block of Chase Heritage Circle between 8 p.m. July 21 and 3:30 a.m. July 22.
  • Larceny: The victim was inside a store on the 46200 block of Cranston Street at 1:30 p.m. July 24 when an unknown Hispanic female approached her. As she was talking with the female, an unknown Hispanic male grabbed her purse. The victim confronted the male and was able to get her purse back. The victim later discovered a house key was missing from her wallet.
  • Assault: Three subjects entered a party on the 46700 block of Middlefield Drive between 11:30 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. July 23 and assaulted one of the attendees. The suspects were all three described as Hispanic males. Other attendees joined in the altercation and the three suspects left the area in two cars, one red and one silver. None of the injuries was considered serious and four victims were all treated at the scene.
