The woman was seriously injured while at the shooting range at Silver Eagle Group on Guilford Drive in Ashburn Friday evening, according to witnesses who were at the scene.

Silver Eagle employees quickly took control of the situation and the victim, believed to be female, suffered an injury. One witness at the scene reported seeing blood, but believed the victim to be breathing. A second witness inside the range at the time of the shooting said he attended to the woman and that the injury appeared to be very serious.

Both men credited Silver Eagle with acting responsibly in the aftermath.

“Those guys did a good job calming the situation, clearing the scene,” said the first witness. Neither witness saw the actual gunshot occur.

Sheriff Chapman said the incident would be investigated; initial indications are that no one else was involved.

He said LCSO officers soon arrived, followed by an ambulance and fire trucks. He estimated the ambulance arrived about 10 minutes after the first calls were being made.
