UPDATE: Snow Truck Driver Killed in Ashburn Crash Identified

VDOT contractor was struck by another truck, according to Virginia State Police.

A truck contractor working to clear snow in Ashburn was struck and killed by another plow Thursday morning, according to the Virginia State Police.

The crash occurred at around 5:30 a.m. on Belmont Ridge Road at the intersection with Chesterton Street.

The Virginia Department of Transportation contractor had pulled his truck off to the right shoulder and was standing at the rear of the truck when he was struck by another VDOT truck, according to a statement by state police spokesperson Corinne N. Geller.

The contractor was transported to Loudoun Hospital Center, where he died, Geller said. He was identified as Lovo Guevara Geovany Arnoldo, 32, of Vienna.

The driver of the second dump truck was not injured in the crash. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Also, early Thursday, a snow plow driven by a VDOT contractor overturned on Interstate 81 near Verona. No injuries were reported in that incident, according to WHSV-TV3.
