Sterling Fire Displaces Four

A fire caused an estimated $200,000 damage to a Sterling home Saturday night and has displaced a family of four. Loudoun County Emergency Communications began receiving calls at 7:19 p.m. Jan. 26 about a fire at 201 Magnolia Court, just a short distance east of Route 28 Centre.

 The first units on the scene reported seeing heavy fire coming from the 2-story, single-family structure. Firefighters attempted an interior attack, but were pulled forced from the home by the intensity of the blaze, according to a report from Loudoun County Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services. A subsequent exterior attack proved more successful, enabling crews to re-enter the structure and extinguish. Crews had the fire under control after about 30 minutes.

The fire displaced the home’s four occupants; one was sent to Inova Lansdowne because of trouble breathing. The American Red Cross was called to the scene to provide shelter for the displaced occupants. 

No firefighters were reported injured. Fire and rescue units from Sterling, Ashburn and Fairfax County responded. 

The Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office, which is conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire, estimated damages at $200,000.
