Sterling Homicide Victim Identified

Loudoun authorities continue to seek information in the case.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a homicide victim found in a white Mercedes Benz SUV on Dec. 27 near Great Trail and Trail Run terraces in Sterling.

Jovaughn J. Johnson, 30, of Sterling, was found dead in the vehicle by deputies after someone who apparently spotted the victim placed a call to the sheriff’s office to check on him.

Investigators do not believe the shooting was random.

Anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the vicinity between 1 and 5 p.m. Dec. 27 is asked to call 703-777-0475. Residents who wish to remain anonymous can call Loudoun Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919. If the information provided to Crime Solvers leads to an arrest and indictment, the caller could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
