Stolen AR-15, Handguns, Car Recovered in Mississippi

A suspect was arrested during a burglary one day after someone abandoned car, guns following 25-mile chase.

A day after recovering weapons following a car chase, law enforcement officers in Mississippi caught a man suspected of stealing an automobile and multiple firearms in Loudoun County.

Officers took Joseph S. Schrotz, 22, into custody during a residential burglary in Harrison County, Mississippi, where he faces multiple felony charges, including possession of a stolen firearm and fleeing. Charges are pending for the incidents in Loudoun.

A day earlier, Mississippi deputies chased a vehicle reported stolen in Loudoun for 25 miles before the driver fled on foot and got away. The owner of the 2009 Dodge Caliber involved in the pursuit reported it stolen from the area of Gothic Square in Chantilly March 26. Three firearms recovered from the car – an AR-15 rifle, a .40 caliber handgun and a 9mm caliber handgun – were reported stole from a vehicle on Ponderosa Drive in Chantilly, also on March 26.

The case remains under investigation by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
