A teacher at Cedar Lane
Elementary School in Ashburn faces a charge of driving under the influence as well as other alcohol-related charges after his arrest at the
school Wednesday morning.
Shortly before 10 a.m., a school employee notified a school resource officer, staffed by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, that another school employee might be intoxicated, according to an LCSO report.
After investigating, the officer charged Gregory A. Wuenschel, 48, of Ranson, WV, with possessing alcohol on school property, driving without a license and DUI.
Wuenschel has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Wuenschel participated in a team-taught gym class Wednesday morning and was “never alone with students,” according to Loudoun County Public Schools spokesman Wayde Byard.
Byard said Wuenschel has been with the school system for nine years.
He was released on a $2,500 bond.
