Third Arrest in Purcellville Home Invasion Case, Fourth Wanted

Leesburg suspect remains free as men from Sterling, Ashburn sit in jail.

A third person was arrested Monday in relation to an Oct. 14 home invasion robbery in Purcellville, while a fourth remains on the run, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

Dean W. Ballard, 20, was arrested Nov. 11 in Harrisonburg, VA, and remains at the Rockingham Harrisonburg Regional Jail without bail. Jordan L. Harwell, 29, of Sterling, and John C. Barwis, 23, of Ashburn, were previously arrested and charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. Harwell and Barwis remain at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bail. Additional charges are pending.

Authorities continue to seek David C. Russell Jr., 21, of Leesburg. Russell is known to hang out in Sterling and Leesburg.

Around 11:30 p.m. Oct. 14, the suspects entered an apartment on the 100 block of N. 21st Street in Purcellville and assaulted someone in the home, according to LCSO reports. The suspects were armed and reportedly took cash before fleeing. The injured victim was treated at Inova Loudoun Hospital in Leesburg. Officers with the Purcellville Police Department and the LCSO responded to the scene.

Callers wishing to remain anonymous can call Loudoun County Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919. If the caller provides information to Crime Solvers leading to the arrest and indictment of either suspect, they could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
