Drivers were left seeking alternatives routes Tuesday after a
truck accident knocked down power lines along Waxpool Road at Route 28, near
Wegmans, resulting in the road’s closure for several hours.
Power was restored in about 30 minutes to most local businesses that were doused with darkness around 10:30 a.m.
The accident, cleanup and power line repairs kept the road closed between Atlantic and Pacific boulevards until about 3:30 p.m.
Some drivers who commented on Facebook said Waxpool was backed up all the way to Loudoun County Parkway to the west. Several other drivers who commented on Facebook said they were rerouted and that the delay was not bad, all things considered.
