Two Officers Injured in Pursuit of Shoplifting Suspect

Help sought in identifying suspect in Saturday incident, according to Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Two Loudoun County Sheriff's deputies were injured in the pursuit of a shoplifting suspect Saturday at the Costco in Sterling.

The officers were responding Saturday afternoon to a report of a theft in progress at the store in the 21300 block of Price Cascades Plaza

The unknown male subject was trying to take televisions from the store. As deputies were attempting to confront the man, he reportedly shut the driver's side door on one deputy's hand.

When a second deputy attempted to grab the man through the car window, the subject drove away, dragging the officer for about 60 feet. He also struck a Loudoun County Sheriff's Office patrol car.

Both deputies were taken to a local hospital and have since been released, according to a Sheriff's Office release. The suspect was driving a 2004-2006 model Acura with New York tags.
