Witnesses Sought from Braddock Crash Monday

The Loudoun Sheriff’s Office is investigating the two-vehicle incident near Aldie.

Investigators hope witnesses who saw the two-vehicle accident along Braddock Road near Aldie Monday evening come forward to help determine what happened.

Around 7:15 p.m. April 18, as Stone Ridge resident Christopher J. Schemmel, 18, drove eastbound on Braddock Road, his 2006 Infiniti sedan turned in front of a westbound 2002 Ford Escape. The 22-year-old Escape driver, Purcellville resident Donald M. Legg, was airlifted to INOVA Fairfax Hospital. He is expected to fully recover.

During the course of the crash investigation it was determined that Legg was driving under the influence of some kind of drug or drugs. Deputies charged him with DUI-D and failure to wear a seatbelt.

Schemmel was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Fair Oaks Hospital and released.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Crash Reconstruction Unit. Witnesses to the crash who have not talked directly with a deputy are asked to contact DFC S. Allen at 703-737-8308.

Any idiot driving without a seatbelt and under the influence of drugs should be at fault, regardless of the circumstances. Shouldn't be on the road. Case closed. Take away his Obama-card, p-test him, and go from there. He's lucky he walked out of the hospital. I'm sick of this crap!!!

Hey Nunya, you have nun common scense ya? What we dont need is knee jerk reactions and retaliatory justice. Cooler heads must prevail and need to look at all the circumstances involved in order to properly investigate this crime. Yes, you are right, however, in stating the level of idiousy in driving drugged and the absence of a seat belt. This poor bastard is going to have a tough few years to come and probably plenty of cell time to reflect on his decisions.
