Foust Reports $1.25 Million Cash on Hand to Comstock's $576K in Second Quarter

Fairfax County Supervisor John Foust (D-McLean, VA) raised $705,000 during the second quarter of this year's 10th Congressional District race, bringing Foust's total cash on hand to more than $1.25 million.

Fairfax County Supervisor John Foust (D-McLean, VA) ended June with more than $1.25 million total cash on hand compared to the $576,000 raised by Virginia Delegate Barbara Comstock.

Foust reportedly raised $705,000 during the second quarter of this year's 10th Congressional District race to Comstock’s $611,000, his campaign announced Tuesday.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support we’ve received,” said John Foust in a statement. “Whether it’s cutting wasteful spending or supporting important priorities that our community cares about like education, Northern Virginia residents want to send the kind of practical problem-solving we practice in Fairfax to Washington – and these numbers are more proof that our message is resonating across the district.”

Foust's campaign reported $573,000 cash on hand for the quarter, including a 150,000 loan Foust made to himself. He reported an additional $132,000 raised in the April 1-7 period before the official beginning of the second quarter, the Washington Post reports.

Both candidates are vying to replace incumbent Republican Frank Wolf, is retiring after seventeen terms.  He is not seeking re-election in 2014.

Comstock previously won the 10th District Republican Primary with about 54 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results released by the district’s Republican committee. She will face Foust in the November general election.

The district is a heated target for both parties. Mitt Romney carried the seat by just one point in the 2012 presidential election.
