Got Route 50 Questions?

VDOT has scheduled an information meeting for residents to learn about improvements underway, ask questions and express concerns.

Commuters traveling daily along Route 50 may be wondering when things will stop getting worse and start getting better as the Virginia Department of Transportation continues work on road widening and other improvements in Fairfax and Loudoun counties.

To provide information as well as take questions and hear concerns, VDOT has scheduled a “Pardon Our Dust” meeting beginning at 6 p.m. June 28 at the Dulles South Public Safety Center, 25216 Loudoun County Parkway, in South Riding.

The $99.9 million project will widen Route 50 from four to six lanes between Poland Road and Route 28. Completion is anticipated in late 2014.

In addition to widening Route 50, VDOT plans to add pedestrian and cyclist accommodations as well as other safety improvements. When finished, the road will be more level, with wider buffers between travel lanes and roadside hazards.

Information about the project can be found on VDOT’s website.
