The Loudoun County Republican Committee will gather at Tuscarora High School to select candidates for county chairman and sheriff. For the rest of the contests, the event is a formality to identify the official nominees.

For chairman, Republican delegates can choose between incumbent Scott K. York and Steve Stockman, another Republican who has served Loudoun as an Independent in the past.

For sheriff, LCRC delegates have two options for a nominee to take on incumbent Sheriff Stephen O. Simpson: Ron Speakman or Mike Chapman. Two other men considered seeking the nomination but dropped out. Simpson is a former LCRC member who became an Independent.

Registration for the LCRC convention starts at 8:30 a.m. and the convention begins at 10 a.m.

Democrats

The only race for Loudoun Democrats today is a caucus where Sterling Democrats have the opportunity to select Al Nevarez or Bahri ‘Barry’ Aliriza to run against incumbent Sterling Supervisor Eugene Delgaudio (R).

The caucus runs at the Sterling Library from noon to 4 p.m.
