Loudoun Personal Property Tax Notices Mailed

Residents are asked to verify information and submit changes by Feb. 1.

Loudoun County Commissioner of the Revenue Robert S. Wertz Jr. announced this week that he recently mailed 2013 personal property filing requirement notices to more than 170,000 personal property owners currently on the county’s tax rolls, and changes are due by Feb. 1.

This marks the fourth year that property owners have been asked to complete the annual vehicle reporting process online, which eliminates the need to complete and return forms by mail for each automobile, truck, motorcycle, camper, trailer, boat, motorhome, aircraft or mobile home a taxpayer owns.

Notices include an account number that can be used by personal property owners to access the online reporting system at www.loudoun.gov/vehicle-file.

Corrections, address changes, the sale or disposal of a vehicle, or unusually high mileage can be reported, since these items might affect the property’s valuation or number of months to be taxed.

To avoid late filing penalties, report newly acquired vehicles or those recently entering the county to the Commissioner of the Revenue within 60 days of a purchase or a move to Loudoun County. For information or filing assistance, please visit www.loudoun.gov/cor or contact the Office of the Commissioner of the Revenue at ppdcor@loudoun.gov or 703-777-0260.

Taxpayers without Internet access can submit written statements to report changes, or stop by the Commissioner’s Leesburg, 1 Harrison Street SE, or Sterling, 21641 Rigetop Circle Suite 100, offices on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This mailing by Robert S. Wertz JR cost about $80,000.00 dollars. Can that be cut using e-mail?
