LTE: Delgaudio Should Resign

The man planning to run for the Sterling supervisors' seat in 2015 calls for resignation now.

Dear Editor:

The Special Grand Jury was not asked to consider indicting Mr. Delgaudio of the charges brought against him, but he was not cleared of those charges either. According to reports, in addition to employee abuse, there is evidence that "suggests the misuse of public assets may have occurred within Supervisor Delgaudio's office between Fall 2011 and Spring 2012." Mr. Delgaudio has not fully represented the people of Sterling for quite some time. For the past five months, he has been under investigation, losing his membership privileges on committees within the Board of Supervisors. Between this recent investigation and media reports of a possible FBI investigation of his hate group, Public Advocate of the United States, Mr. Delgaudio's credibility to serve in public office has been damaged.

I believe that Mr. Delgaudio should resign his position as Sterling Supervisor so that the people of Sterling can elect a supervisor who is unhampered by investigation after investigation, who is not preoccupied with promoting personal agendas, and who can give his or her full attention to representing the people of Sterling. Now that Mr. Delgaudio has received his due process of law, I fully support the public effort underway, led by the Loudoun County Democratic Committee, to recall Mr. Delgaudio. Furthermore, I believe that the time has come for the people of the Sterling District and of all Loudoun County to send letters and emails to Mr. Delgaudio and the Board of Supervisors, demanding his resignation. It is now left up to us, the people, to rid ourselves of a politician like Mr. Delgaudio.
