Romney Takes Loudoun, But Not All of It

Ron Paul, the only other name on the ballot, won 11 precincts

Mitt Romney won a fairly decisive and relatively uncompetitive presidential primary in Virginia with close 60 percent of the vote (with 99.76 percent of precincts counted). And while he won in Loudoun by an even greater margin (62 percent to Ron Paul’s 37 percent), Paul won precincts all across the county.

In fact, Paul won precincts in all but two magisterial districts— Ashburn and Algonkian. Of Loudoun’s 84 precincts, he won 10 of them, tied in one of them and came within two votes in three others. And while he did not post a winning score in the Ashburn magisterial district, he did win at least one precinct with an Ashburn ZIP code: Creighton’s Corner, which voted 52-46 for Paul.

The numbers show an appeal to Paul across areas of the county that may not share much else in common. Below is a list of where Paul won in Loudoun (in bold), or came very close, by magisterial district (the numbers are votes, not percentages), as well as the vote totals for Loudoun by district.
