Ashburn Students in State Geography Bee

Sixteen Loudoun County Public Schools students will participate in the April 5 bee in Farmville.

Sorry Jeopardy fans. Alex Trebek will be preoccupied May 22 and Ashburn students have a shot at sharing the stage with the host of the iconic show.

Sixteen Loudoun County Public Schools students will vie April 5 in the Virginia Geography Bee at Longwood University in Farmville, VA, for a chance to participate in the national bee with Trebek. Loudoun’s 16 students represent half of the state qualifiers. The winner moves on to the May 20-22 National Geography Bee, sponsored by National Geographic, in Washington, DC. The finals for the national bee will be held May 22 at the National Theater.

This year marks the bee’s 25th anniversary and will mark the last time Trebek will moderate the event.
