Black History Month: One Noble Journey: A Box Marked Freedom

A gripping one-man play from start to finish featuring actor Mike Wiley who becomes Henry "Box" Brown, a slave who sees no alternative but to mail himself to freedom in a small crate.


For ages 8 & up.

Acclaimed actor and playwright Mike Wiley has spent the last decade fulfilling his mission to bring educational theatre to young audiences and communities across the country. His production company brings to life events and figures in African-American history. Wiley has a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was the 2010 Lehman Brady Visiting Joint Chair Professor in Documentary Studies and American Studies at Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has also appeared on Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel and National Geographic Channel.
