Hatrick Delivers ‘State of Education’ Address to Chamber

LCPS superintendent defends technology during breakfast with business leaders.

Loudoun County Public Schools Superintendent Edgar B. Hatrick reported on the “State of Education” to business leaders at a Loudoun Chamber of Commerce breakfast Tuesday.

Among other topics, he defended the use of technology in classrooms today. He said the recent purchase of interactive whiteboard for the rest of county classrooms that lacked them corrected a “great inequity.” In addition, he pointed to newer technology and individual learning devices such as the Apple iPad, which he said could save money in the long run by providing updated electronic versions of texts, rather paper copies that can be outdated before arriving at the school for distribution.
