To find out which school your child will attend, please go to the LCPS website, www.lcps.org, and click the School Attendance Boundaries icon.

Registration forms are available at your local elementary school. Registration forms for Cardinal Ridge may be picked up at any neighboring LCPS elementary school or at the LCPS Administrative Offices (21000 Education Court, Ashburn).

To be eligible to attend kindergarten, a child must be five (5) years old on or before September 30, 2014. Compulsory attendance is required of all children who are five on or before September 30, 2014, unless a parent or guardian notifies the School Board that the child will not attend school until the following year. School office staff can give you information about making such a request.

Please plan to bring the following items on registration day, Tuesday, April 8th:

  • The original or certified copy of your child’s birth certificate or a notarized affidavit.
  • Pupil Registration Form (included in registration packet).
  • Kindergarten Transportation Form (included in registration packet).
  • Proof of Residency (a signed deed, current lease agreement, or mortgage statement).
  • A parent/guardian photo ID.
  • Legal custody papers if applicable.

Parents should provide the completed registration form with a new physical to the school no later than August 19.

For students whose birthday/physical date falls between August 19 and September 1, 2014, parents should provide a four-year physical and appointment verification that a new physical is scheduled between August19 and September 1. You may register a child without the physical – beginning on April 8th – but the child will not be able to attend school without a new physical.

Since a child will not be allowed to begin kindergarten without a new physical, they could lose their spot if a school is on overflow and a valid physical is not presented by the first day of school. In order to ensure your child’s admission to the school serving your residence, parents should provide the completed registration form with a new physical no later than August 19. If this information is not provided to the school by August 19 and a kindergarten overflow list exists, your child will be placed on the overflow list and the vacated spot will be filled by a child with a complete registration, which includes the new physical.
