Ashburn's Seniors Graduate June 10-11

Ceremonies begin Sunday at GMU's Patriot Center for the area's 1,248 graduates.

Seniors from Ashburn’s high schools and their families head to George Mason University Sunday and Monday for graduation ceremonies at the Patriot Center. Graduates of the Academy of Science, Adult Education and the Monroe Technology Center participated in ceremonies earlier this week. Additional ceremonies are listed below.

, and have 1,248 students collecting diplomas during the ceremonies, with the most coming from Stone Bridge (485). That does not include Ashburn students at the Academy of Science, Monroe and in Adult Education.

Following the ceremonies, the graduates head to all-night graduation parties. Students, parents and family members are encouraged to post pictures of graduates here to share with the community (or submit them to dusty@patch.com). Feel free to include plans for the future.

Chris Harvey, managing director of Ameriprise Financial. In 1980, 20-year-old Harvey paused from studying to talk to his roommate. Gunshots interrupted their conversation as a drunken young man randomly fired a high-powered hunting rifle from the hillside across the street. One bullet penetrated the side of Harvey’s house, struck him in the temple and severed his optic nerves, instantly blinding him. Harvey lost his sight, but he was determined not to lose the vision for his life.
