Loudoun School Board Extends TJ Contract for 2014-15

After working out tuition rates for existing and new students to TJ, board agrees to deal that includes renovation costs.

Loudoun students will continue to have the opportunity to participate in Fairfax County Public Schools’ Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJ) for the 2014-15 school year.

The Loudoun County School Board on Sept. 25 voted unanimously to extend the contract with FCPS.

The Loudoun school board had pondered withdrawing from the program because of the cost of a renovation project at the school, but negotiated an arrangement that will have less impact; tuition is charged to LCPS, not the students. The tuition rate for students currently attending TJ will be $14,000, while LCPS will be charged $16,074 for students new to the school, with the difference going to construction costs.
