Loudoun's Career GPS Expo for Grades 8-12 Wednesday

"Getting Prepared for Success" an opportunity for high school students to learn about careers they had never thought about before.

Release, Loudoun County Public Schools:

Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Career GPS Expo will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, at Dominion High School.

GPS stands for “Getting Prepared for Success.” This event is designed for students in eighth through 12th grades. This fair is an opportunity for high school students to learn about careers they had never thought about before.

More than 100 exhibitors are expected to attend representing colleges and careers. Students are encouraged to have discussions with professionals regarding educational requirements and special training for their careers.

Counselors will be available in the computer lab to help students with the Career Cluster Finder activity.

The following features will be offered:

Guest Speaker in Auditorium

Blue Ridge District Supervisor Janet Clarke, who also serves as a workforce development manager at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA), will be the guest speaker. She will speak from 6:45-7:15 p.m. and 7:45-8:15 p.m. on job skills, work ethic and emerging careers. 

Clarke is a graduate of NOVA, earned her bachelor’s degree in community interrelations from George Mason University and a master’s degree in education from George Washington University. She is licensed through Shenandoah University to teach business and marketing in secondary schools. 

Clarke served three years on the Loudoun County Community Services Board, two years on the Purcellville Town Council and is two years into a four-year term on the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors.

Career Representatives

Career representatives will be available in the main gym to discuss their job history and the educational choices that led them there. These representatives will be arranged in 16 career clusters. Careers that will be represented include:
