Mill Run Students Advance to Odyssey of the Mind World Finals

Donations are being accepted for trip to Iowa.

Six fifth-grade students from Mill Run Elementary School in Ashburn are headed to theOdyssey of the Mind World Finals to be held at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa from May 28-31. The team placed second in their category at the State Tournament held last weekend in Rocky Mount, VA and received an invite to the World Finals. 

This is the first time that a team from Mill Run has ever gone on to the World Finals. While there, the team will test their quick-thinking skills as they compete against teams from across the country and around the world. For now, the team is focusing their skills on raising $8,000 to cover the costs of travel and lodging for the event in Iowa. 

Team members include Kadin Ali, Ellie Colangelo, Nidhi Gavva, Clare Gifford, Grace Levy and Abhi Palicherla. Donations are being accepted on their GoFundMe web page at http://www.gofundme.com/8rpris

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics.
