Spartan Drum Line, Winter Guard Wins Gold in Raleigh

The Broad Run performers excelled in their respective classes to take the top prizes.

The Broad Run Indoor Drum Line and Winter Guard grabbed two gold medals at the Atlantic Indoor Association Championships in Raleigh, NC, earlier this month. Competing against units from Virginia and North Carolina, each won First Place Champions in their respective classes.

The IDL vied against 20 other schools in the Percussion Scholastic A Group and won its gold medal for its “Ballistic” show with a score of 90.1. The Guard, meanwhile, won its gold medal with its “Hope” show, topping 29 other units in the Scholastic 2 A Group with a score of 77.945.

Broad Run Band Director Bram Smith called it an “amazing” and “incredible” experience for both groups, according to information provided from the band boosters. Smith said the students represented Broad Run proudly.
