Family-Owned Leesburg Shop Plans Thanksgiving Midnight Madness

With new shop, Prebich family maintains old tradition with Turkey Day sale.

The big retailer across the country have been challenging each other year after year to open earlier for Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, to get a jump on Christmas shopping. In recent years, store hours have creeped into Thanksgiving Day.

But it’s not just national chains pushing the envelope. The Ashburn family that owns Leesburg’s All Things New Again, a furniture and paint boutique, has been opening their businesses after the big meal for eight years.

Dave and Cathy Prebich, who previously owned Sawdust Specialties, now run All Things New Again out of the same little white house on Fort Evans Road next to the CVS. Sawdust Specialties held the first Midnight Madness sale, but All Things New Again will continue the tradition, opening from 8 p.m. to midnight on Thanksgiving.

Cathy Prebich recently noted on the boutique’s website that some critics say Thanksgiving Day sales steal time from friends and family.

“I appreciate the sentiment, but I’ve been opening our shop on Thanksgiving night for the past eight years,” she wrote. “I can’t really call it ‘working’ because our Midnight Madness celebration is a huge party full of friends and a lot of fun. Midnight Madness has become a tradition in our family."

So if you’re looking for a little different type of shopping madness after your nap, check out the sale at All Things New Again.

But don't let the sale stop you from stopping All Things or another shop for Small Business Saturday Nov. 30.
