Ballpark Groundbreaking Planned at One Loudoun

The 5,500-seat stadium will be home to the Loudoun Hounds and the Virginia Cavalry FC.

The Loudoun Hounds and the Virginia Cavalry FC will move a step closer to making a ballpark in One Loudoun their home with a groundbreaking event set for June 4.

The Loudoun Board of Supervisors after plans at the initial location farther east at Kincora were stymied by delays.

The construction is expected to take at least nine months and possibly longer. Early season games are expected to be played scheduled as away games or at alternate venues until the stadium opens.

In additional to serving as home to the professional baseball and soccer teams, the stadium is expected to offer a limited number of concerts each year and provide space for community events including fireworks and graduations. Currently, all Ashburn high schools hold their graduation ceremonies at George Mason University's Patriot Center in Fairfax, while Leesburg high schools have ceremonies at their schools.

The invitation-only groundbreaking will take place on ballpark site, with a reception planned on the plaza in front of the newly opened Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. The Fresh Market is also planned at One Loudoun.
