Briar Woods' Rolin Continues Winning Honors
The South Carolina recruit garners more national attention before senior year with the Falcons.
It's been a busy offseason for Briar Woods linebacker Matt Rolin. After helping lead the Falcons to a second straight state championship, the athletic 6-foot-3-inch, 210-lbs. rising senior began attracting national attention when he received more than twenty scholarship offers from big time football programs such as Florida, Penn State, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, and Notre Dame. Rolin also joined fellow Ashburn area players Ryan Burns and Jonathan Allen of Stone Bridge on ESPN's list of the 150 best players in the Class of 2013.
If that were't enough, Rolin recently received an honor that may give him even more street cred than his announcement that he will be attending the University of South Carolina to play for Steve Spurrier, the legendary former coach of the Florida Gators (and not so legendary former coach of the Washington Redskins). Writing for bleacherreport.com, Edwin Weathersby identified Rolin as one of the top ten hardest hitting players in the Class of 2013. This may not come as a surprise to area football fans and Briar Woods opponents, but in case you're not convinced, check out the highlight reel here.
