Briar Woods Plays in Region 5 Football Final Saturday; Game at John Champe HS

Weather pushes the game against North Stafford from grass to turf.

Home field advantage may feel a little funny Saturday when the Briar Woods Falcons (12-1) welcome the North Stafford Wolverines (13-2) to … Aldie.

Some great battles have been fought on high school football fields all over Ashburn this year – including last week’s Briar Woods-Broad Run semifinal stunner. But Falcon fans will have to head a little farther south to get to home field this weekend for the Region 5 Championship: The wet weather has prompted the Briar Woods to move the game from its soggy natural field to the artificial turf of John Champe High School, 41535 Sacred Mountain Street, in Aldie.

North Stafford knocked off Massaponax 42-21 a week ago to earn a spot in the title, while Briar Woods beat Broad Run in overtime 37-34. With a win, the Falcons would continue on the trek for yet another state title.
