Broad High School Calls on Football Alumni for Breakfast

Coach Griffis has announced plans to bring players from 1969 through 2013 together for a day in August.

Have you ever played football for Broad Run High School in Ashburn? Then you are invited to the first of what hoped is be an annual alumni breakfast.

Spartans Head Coach Matthew Griffis last week issued the invitation.

“We are very excited to have this opportunity for former players from Broad Run, who played between 1969 and 2013, to join us for breakfast and enjoy exchanging stories about their time on the Spartan gridiron,” Griffis said in a press release, adding that “having the chance for my current players to talk with Spartan football alumni is always inspiring on so many levels.”

The breakfast is set for 9 a.m. Aug. 10 in the Broad Run Cafeteria the same day as the traditional Maroon and Gold scrimmage. Football alumni are encouraged to arrive as early as 8:30 a.m. for a walk down memory lane, including photos, video and yearbooks of past teams.

Organizers hope the event becomes part of the traditional Maroon and Gold scrimmage for years to come. The breakfast is free to alumni.
